Barcelona is the capital city of the autonomous region Catalonia with a population of 1,605,602 (in 2006). This metropolitan city has many visitors every year and has a unique flair, also through its 68 parks and seven beaches. The area around the Plaça Catalunya makes up the city's historical centre. The most famous street is La Ramblas where you can marvel at various street artists.

1.     La Sagrada Familia. This church designed by the famous Antonio Gaudi is under construction since 1882 and is still not finished. The typical mysterious style of Gaudi gives this building a special picture. About two million people visited the church in 2004, making it one of the most important sights in Spain.
2.     Spanish Village. This “village” replicates the former way of living and gives the visitor a picture of the historic life in Spain. It  also home to a whole host of specialist craft shops and workshops where you can see some traditionally made Spanish goods.
3.     Park Guell. Designed by famous Antonio Gaudi it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Works of Antoni Gaudí". Throughout this beautiful park you can marvel at little pieces of Arts of Gaudi.
4.     La Pedrera is another building designed by Gaudi. In 1984 it was declared a UNESCO world heritage. This residential building is more an sculpture than a building and one of the most imaginative houses of the history of the architecture, 
5.     Barcelona Zoo. Situated in the Park de la Ciutadella and offers a huge variety of animals and plants.
6.     Cathedral of Santa Eulalia. The cathedral is situated next to the Plaça de la Seu, in the Barri Gòtic district. It is a quite impressive building, designed during the Roman Empire and richly decorated. 13 geese live in a secluded Gothic cloister in the cathedral. The cathedral also has a very nice garden.
7.     Picasso Museum. Situated on Carrer Montcada one of the prettiest narrow streets in Barcelona is the Picasso Museum. It exhibits pictures and paintings from all Pablo Picassos life, shown in chronological order.
